Deceiveth the world still

And the Ancient Serpent, the Devil, Satan, appeared to the world as some saint, as a fabled martyr, as a prophet, as a messiah, in various and innumerable forms, to deceive the world. And people used to worship him, thinking he was Christ! Believing he was one of their revered saints! Or a martyr! Or they worshiped him as some ancient prophet! Not always male. The Chief Devil still deceives the world...
